Privacy
Draftwork collects nothing and sends nothing about you. Your drawings stay on your computer.
The app
There is no install count, no usage tracking, no crash reports, no account and no sign-in.
The one connection Draftwork makes by itself is to keep itself up to date: once a day it
reads a small file from storage.googleapis.com that names the newest version,
and when there is a newer one it downloads it from there and installs it when you quit.
Nothing about you or your drawings is sent; Google Cloud Storage sees the network address
the request comes from, as any web host does. You can turn this off under Help >
Check for Updates Automatically. The Mac App Store copy never does this: the App Store
updates it.
Otherwise Draftwork goes to the internet only when you ask it to, for example by choosing Help > Draftwork Website, which opens the page in your browser.
On your computer
- A drawing is read from the file you open or drop on the window, and saved, plotted or published only when you ask, to the place you pick.
- External references and images are read from the files the drawing points to.
- Your settings and the list of recent drawings are kept in a
settings.jsonfile in Draftwork's data folder. - While you work, Draftwork saves a copy of each changed drawing every few minutes in the same data folder's
autosavefolder, so a crash doesn't lose your work. Delete the folder to clear it.
The download count
Pressing a download button on this website sends one short message to
stats.syncster.dev, a service we run, so we know how many copies are downloaded.
It says three things, and nothing about you:
| What | For example |
|---|---|
| The app | draftwork |
| The version downloaded | 0.4.0 |
| The system it is for | macos or windows |
The service stores those values and the time the message arrived. It does not store the
network address the message came from with them, and this website sets no cookies. The home
page also asks stats.syncster.dev how many copies are installed, to show that number. The
website is hosted on Netlify and the downloads are served from Google Cloud Storage; like any
web host, they see the network address a request comes from, under their own terms.
What is never sent
- Your drawings, or anything in them
- File names, folder names or paths
- Your name, email address, user name or computer name
- What you do in Draftwork
Nothing is sold or shared.
